The Mid-Sussex Local History Group

About The Mid-Sussex Local History Group

Established in 1986, we are a small and friendly community dedicated to learning about the rich history of Mid Sussex and occasionally beyond. If you are interested in history and discovering the stories of our local area, we guarantee a warm welcome to all new members.

Our primary goal is to bring together like-minded individuals who share an interest in local history. Through our monthly meetings, held at the Franklands Village Hall in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, we provide a platform for enlightening presentations.

Each month, we invite speakers from diverse backgrounds and walks of life to share their knowledge and expertise on a wide range of historical topics, mostly connected to Sussex history. These interesting talks typically last for around one hour, offering an opportunity to gain a wider knowledge of our region’s past. We aim to cover a wide variety of topics from ancient landmarks and notable figures to significant events and cultural heritage.

In addition to our regular meetings, we also organise outings from time to time during the summer months. These trips provide a first-hand experience of the history of Mid Sussex and a chance to connect with the past in a meaningful way.
